Horse Maintenance 101: Grooming

We are house sitting at the nice, fun, big fancy house that Pete works at and where we keep our horses. In case you forgot or are a new reader to the blog, please read this old post which explains my constant fear of actually "living" in this house and trying not to destroy or break everything. Anyhow, it has been really fun being in the mountains and being able to see our horses from the kitchen windows and play with them more. It's also just fun rattling around in a mega mansion that has every possible extra and amenity that you never knew you needed.

So, yesterday we decided to butcher the hair on more of our animals (sadly you can read about these experiences here). Our Norwegian Fjord horses are supposed to have "roached" manes - they are supposed to be short, shaved and like a mohawk. Ours have been growing and are very long, so it took a lot of cutting. While Pete cut and shaved a bit, Zoe (my little sis through BBBS) and I brushed the horses down, cleaned them and just loved on them alot.

Here are some before and after shots. It's going to take us a while to get this hair cutting thing down, but not bad for a first go.

Today - trimming their hoofs! (with professional supervision and hired help of course)

The ponies look pretty!

If ever you need someone to back up a story about you not remembering to do something, just let me know. I'll fight tooth and nail for you.
