And the Oscar goes to....

It was the Roger's 2nd Annual Oscar Party.  I am declaring an "annual" even if they aren't completely on board yet because it is so much fun and a nice change of pace in the middle of our long winters.  There is something fun about dressing up in sleeveless dresses that show off my wintery white pasty arms and trying to walk in heels on ice that I just can't get enough of! I also adore the costume jewelry and a reason to dig out my 1 tube of lipstick that I have had for 12 years.  Thanks Clinique.

My daughter clearly has the same love of dress up as her momma.  As you can imagine, this party might be Matine's FAVORITE of the year.   Poofy pink dress - check.  Pretty ladies with jewelry - check.  Getting to wear dress up shoes that click and gloves - check.  Talking about "Logan will dance with me?" for an entire week - check!   Thanks to Nona and her amazing finds at the thrift store, Matine had about 3 new dress up dresses to choose from for the occasion.

Check out LAST YEARS party with the link here: http://brookeandpeter.blogspot.com/2011/03/red-carpet.html.  I cannot believe this is what 1 year can do!  Madeleine and I are going to take this picture with our gals each year to see the growth!  Theirs and ours.  Yikes.

"I just can't accept this award!  I am so shocked.  I'd like to share it with my friend Sophia. "

Let's just say there were about 30 people there, and more than 1/2 of them were under the age of 6!  There were 3 pregnant ladies as well, which means by next year, the we will be completely outnumbered!

Guys stayed upstairs and drank beer, ladies watched the red carpet and ceremonies from the comfort of the movie room downstairs (champagne and wine in hand).  The kids ran all over.

Me and JimPa, the "french director"

I LOVE Williams bow-tie on the superhero costume!   And, Matine wore the dress Sophia is wearing last year!

Lady Gaga and her pals

I fell like I might be living with Lady Gaga ... or something equally strange.  Here is a SMALL sampling (seriously, I can hardly get the camera before the outfits are changed) of Mattie's latest designs that she sports around the house (and out when she can).

Because every gal loves wearing an apron naked....

Go Pokes!

Just an everyday house outfit... An homage to kermit apparently

One of my fans... the tutu puppy ensemble!!!

Heels, boots and Mary Poppins hat ... ready for the paparazzi!

Playing my little ponies while wearing her bee-hat and undies.
Now, dress up is MUCH more fun when you have friends to dress up too.  Audrey spent Friday morning with us, and I could hardly keep up with all the costume changes this duo had up their sleeves.

Because it was cold in the house, apparently.

And then sunny?

Dress Up and Tea Parties

Little girls... I never in a million years dreamed I would have such  "girly" girl.   I have to admit, it is a LOT of fun!  I am astonished at how much of it is just engrained and part of her DNA...

She loves dress up, make-up, brushing hair, pretty things, clip on earrings (like my grandmother wore), necklaces, pretty shoes, barbies, and pink.  She stands on the toilet every day and "puts on my makeup."  Yesterday, I left the bathroom while she was still pretending with her makeup and it got really quiet after about 1 minute.  I shout back to her and ask her what she was doing - her reply:  "Oh, just putting some mascara on my boobies."

Today she can Audrey are playing "princess" and they both have on veils and dress up dresses and women's size 8 heels.  Please remember we live in MONTANA and hardly ever have an occasion to dress up. I guess the Sound of Music, the few weddings we have been two and the half a dozen times she has seen me in a dress has really made an impression!

My favorite is how sweet she is with her "pretty" things.  She will find mardi gras beads and come running to me and say, "look out bootifull momma."  Or lately with her earrings, she will bring them to me to put on her ears and she will say, "they are berry special."   She is so careful with her things and just loves treating them gently and with kindness.  I love this about her.

She breaks into song all the time, usually when playing with her animals, babies, or dressed up.  She must be imagining that she is on stage, holding her baby in a nursery, or something.  It's precious.

Here are some girl moments lately.
