It was a classic boys day out today. Matt Blank, Hermes Lynn and Peter attacked a back country adventure. They summited a 10,230 foot peak in Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness, specific location not to be disclosed. ;)
After a "tumultuous ascent" (using Pete's words) where they had to be quite careful, they made their summit and had some pretty magnificent panoramic views (see photos). They made two awesome descents with multiple turns, cliff jumps, and 5-12 inches of fresh POWDER!
The scenery and weather could not have been better. Pete even saw a snow shoe hare track at 10,000 feet. He came home refreshed to say the least.
Classic Montana day done right by the boys!
The boys being smart and safe and digging an avalanche pit to assess the snow pack and slope stability! Yay for for safety! We LOVE to see this being done!

Yay for safety! Has Peter shown you how to do this...we need to fully assess next time we hike Montana together.
oh yes my dear friend... since our last excursion together I have been COMPLETELY instructed and practiced avalanche safety... we don't ski without doing all sorts of tests and learning... no worries now!
