The gaping hole in our lives . . .
Micca and I joke (and realize that it's sometimes not funny) that on a regular basis, in our families, we voluntarily add more chaos to our already insane lives. Why do we choose to make our lives more complicated? We weren't busy enough with starting our own business, caretaking homes, dealing with crazy renters in 2 rental homes, working 3 part time jobs, taking care of 8 horses, 3 dogs and a dozen fish, RAISING A CHILD . . . Should I keep listing things? We aren't sure why we can't stop adding to the madness, but here is what the do-it-yourselfers did regardless.
Remember our old wall? The one that had all the actual storage for our dishes and necessary kitchen items? The annoying one that separated our pretty living room and views from the busy kitchen where we seem to flock? The one that has been like an itch that we just HAVE to scratch every time we talk about "the next project?" Yeah, that one. Well, we knocked a big hole in it.
This is where the new breakfast bar will be - there is now a little ledge with barstools so you can sit and annoy the cook in the kitchen.
Ahhh... So pretty - now we can visit whether we are cooking or chillaxin on our couches!
Off with the ugly blue laminate counter tops! The half open shelves and cabinet door you see behind you will be ALL open shelving - sanded and freshly painted of course.
On with the pretty new fir ones that the illustrious Scotty built with his own hands!
Pretty new fir counter tops - they look like butcher block (we did cut a hole and put the sink back in)!
More pictures to come. Next steps: paint all the existing cabinets fresh white, install a new back splash behind the counters, finish patching the drywall and mudding it, paint the walls again...
Stay tuned to see if I lose my mind!
