The Dog and I

Brutus and I are going at it alone these next 3 weeks. Let me tell you, there is no better house and play companion. A nice gentle, friendly, partly deaf, and perky but not too eager 14-year old spaniel is the PERFECT compadre.

What Brutus and I have been doing since Peter has been in Elk Camp:

  • Working at the fly shop, counting flies.
  • Evening walks with our friend & fellow pregnant pal Leah and her old dog Mingus.
  • Trying some new (meat free) recipes - and sharing them of course.
  • Dinner with Terri Jo, Russell and their rugrats River and Brooks.
  • Reading some GREAT books - In the Woods and The Charming Man
  • Missing Peter.
  • Doing the Gabrielle Reece Fit Pregnancy video at home - Brutus likes the stretching the best.
  • A big fabulous thai / indian dinner at Christina's with lots of friends!
  • Having 10 lovely ladies over for girls night - wine, good food, talking, you get the point.
  • Fixing up the house we caretake - cleaning, staining wood furniture.
  • Lunch with our potential Doula for the birth!
  • Missing Peter.
  • Walks downtown to visit friends.
  • Cribbage games at the coffee house.
  • Walk with Laurie and Brad along the river.
  • Interviewing for a new winter job - and getting it!
  • Missing Peter.
  • A little banking - which always means treats for Brutus.
  • Trips to the hardware store - which mean more treats for Brutus.
  • Staying in bed until 11:00am on Sunday and reading - this was an absolute FIRST for me, and Brutus highly approved!
  • Playing with our new camera and realizing that it does NO good unless you have a memory card for it.
  • Missing Peter.
  • Ordering the memory card so we can use the camera.
  • Raking lots of leaves.
  • Starting many o'fires in our new wood stove.
  • Getting our Halloween costumes ready.
  • Hanging some new pictures.
  • Watching some 'Friends' dvd's without interruption!
  • A nice long dinner with our friend Sarah - another fellow pregnant woman due in 2 weeks!
Phew... We are TIRED and going to bed now. Brutus especially likes having a whole entire half side of the bed - not having to share or sleep at the feet.

Sounds MUCH more relaxing than cooking for 10 for 2 weeks in the snow. Glad you're getting to relax and enjoy Brutus. miss you!
