Totally worth the old lady hips

Peter and I, along with our three fur-kids, hiked to Pine Creek Lake on Tuesday. We both had the day off (shocking!) and decided to do something "different." Different meaning... not housework, fishing, errands, or lots of random little things that end up making us say "where did the freaking day go???" Peter hates hiking... so it was a miracle that he did it - somewhat willingly. He only tried to "suggest" a new plan twice before 10am.

The great thing about Pine Creek is that it is an easy hike to the first "Falls" - only 1.5 miles. But, after you cross the falls, it is straight up and you gain 6,000 feet of vertical in the next 4 miles. Yikes. Our memories served us well - we were completely sore and yes, it was still GORGEOUS!

We napped on the rocks along the lake, bouldered around a bit, threw sticks in the crystaline water for the dogs, ate PB&J's.

Then was the descent! We are OLD!!!!! Pete's knees, my HIP (yes my hip like a little old lady) hurt.... The 98 year old Brutus could move his legs the next day and Oliver and Gaucho fell asleep within 1 hour of being home. It did feel great and as you can see from the pics - SO worth the rocky, steep, heart throbbing torture of the ascent and descent.

You really do need to see ALL the pics on our Picasa Web Albums... But here are a few teasers.
