Willie Nelson Baby!

Just the name conjurs up images of tattered hats, maverick spirits, bucking the system, hippies, cowboys, love songs and good times.

Willie played in Red Lodge, MT on August 22nd. Dad and Clark were here that week so I bought us tickets and reservations to camp out and do some hiking and sight-seeing in the Beartooths.

It was amazing! Truly amazing. I have some new favorite family memories from this trip & concert. There were even moments in the concert (between my redneck screaming and "hooting") that I teared up at the magnitude of the songs he was singing .... Then I'd look over and see my dad was teared up too (he would later tell me he was thinking about his mom who loved Willie Nelson and how much he thought I was like her). We were all smiles and laughter ALL night.

It was a very special day with some very special Cottongim antics... Some of which you will see and much of which you WILL NOT.

Yes, we took the "short bus" to the concert. What you are seeing here is our shuttle bus - the "safe way" to the rodeo grounds - hitting a Trans Am. Taking the shuttle (which picks you up at the Snow Creek Saloon and drops you back off there after the concert) enabled you to drink more, but safer! Brilliant.

These ribs were somehow the BEST ribs we had ever put in our mouths - seriously. For $4.

I love my brother. Not sure there is anyone better out there than Clark Cottongim.
And then Willie rocked the stage!

And then we get more excited and consume more.

Scotty sure knows how to have a good time. Not sure you can take many other dads to a concert and have as much fun.

The Cottongim Pair. And they work together every single day and STILL love to be with each other.

Beautiful sunset and perfect weather in Red Lodge.

Dad made some new friends - this is Dustin. He LOVED dad and made sure no one "messed with him," took his spot, and bought him Bud-Heavy's all night long.

And here is the morning after.

Yes, I backed over Peter's grill when moving our car. One of the casualties of the evening.
And here is the other. Dad sleeping it off with his boots on. True Willie Style.

How fun!! I love seeing pictures of your dad with you, he always has a big smile, but when he is with you there is a bigger, goofy smile, even for Uncle Scott. Love ya and can't wait to see you again!!!!!
